How are Advanta™ facial implants different?

Superior softness and healing response.

Advanta’s unique dual porosity architecture results in a softer implant with a more natural look and feel.  Advanta’s patented design promotes growth of tissue and small blood vessels into the open porosity of the implant resulting in natural healing and stability of the implant.  Advanta is a softer, less palpable and less noticeable implant with long-lasting aesthetic results.

Fast, simple out-patient procedure.

Placement of the Advanta implant is a simple procedure usually performed under local anesthesia in a doctor’s office in less than thirty minutes.  A small incision is made at the ends of the implant site and a small tunnel or pocket (under the skin) is made between these incisions for placement of the Advanta™ implant site.  The implant is inserted through the incision and gently positioned in the implant site.  The ends of the implant are cut and trimmed and placed under the skin away from the incisions.  The incisions are closed with sutures which are removed by the doctor within 3-5 days.

What can I expect?

Since each person’s experience with the Advanta™ facial implant procedure may differ, it is important to talk with your doctor about what you should expect following the treatment.  There are benefits and risks associated with any surgical procedure.  Be sure to discuss these and review the Advanta™ facial implant information with your doctor. 

Immediately following treatment.

Patients are up and around immediately after receiving Advanta facial implants and although soft tissue restoration is visible immediately, some swelling, bruising or discomfort may occur.  Most patients can return to normal activities the next day and return to their doctor within 3-5 days to have sutures removed.  Most swelling, bruising, and discomfort should disappear after the first week.  Although Advanta ™ is an extremely soft ePTFE facial implant, you may always feel the implant under your skin.  Within 3 to 4 months after the placement of the Advanta implants, the healing and facial restoration is complete.
