My Experience with Botox:

I am proud to say that I am a highly qualified and experienced Botox provider.  My experience of many years has gained me the recognition of Allergan, the makers of Botox by giving me the title of National Education Faculty.  This is a group of 250 nation-wide Botox experts.

I started administering Botox in 1987, while doing my training in eye plastic surgery at Duke and UCLA.  The effects of Botox on blepharospasm were so powerful that it occurred to me that Botox could possibly relax my frowning muscles.  I used to involuntarily frown constantly and I had a chronic headache centered on my eyebrows.  I decided to inject Botox on my forehead in front of a mirror.  The results were incredible!  My frowning and my headaches were gone.  But what surprised me the most was that I also got rid of my forehead wrinkles!  Encouraged, I injected my staff.  They were delighted with the results so I began injecting my patients.  I was not alone.  Many other eye plastic surgeons in the country started using Botox for wrinkles.  Since then, I have been administering Botox to my patients on a daily basis.

WHAT IS BOTOX AND HOW DOES IT WORK?
Botox is a natural, purified protein produced by a bacteria called Clostridium Botulinum.  When minute safe doses of Botox are injected into overactive facial muscles causing wrinkles, the transmission of nerve impulses to the muscle is blocked.  This relaxes the muscle and allows the wrinkles to disappear or soften.

BOTOX REQUIRES NO RECOVERY
Botox Cosmetic is a simple, non-surgical, no-downtime treatment.  You can literally get your Botox and go back to work.

BOTOX DOESN’T AFFECT OTHER FACIAL EXPRESSIONS, NOR DOES IT CREATE NUMBNESS
Botox is very precisely injected only into the specific muscles that create the wrinkles, leaving the muscles related to other facial expressions unaffected.  In Figure1, you can see the expressivity of this face has not decreased.

BOTOX IS A VERY SAFE MEDICATION
Botox is so safe, it is even used in children.  The key to the successful, safe medical use of Botox was the discovery that a very low dose could safely treat overactive muscles.

HOW IS TH BOTOX TREATMENT PERFORMED AND HOW DOES IT WORK?
After I examine your face and determine how Botox can help you, I will discuss with you my treatment plan.  A topical anesthetic will be applied.  I will then inject a minute amount very precisely with a tiny needle into the muscles that cause your facial wrinkles.
The finesse in treating with Botox lies in the physician knowing exactly where to place the injections, how many units to administer on each site, the precision of the application, and the minimization of discomfort.  I have obtained that finesse through the years that I have been administering Botox starting in 1987.
